That’s right, you read the blog article title right. I take the methodology of an old expression, “manage your manager(s) and leadership's expectations”. The reason I say this is not to be taken as being arrogant, a prick, or defiant, but to prepare you for what you will deal with as you go throughout your career. What you will most likely find from working with many peers and different levels of management is that most people don’t take care of themselves physically, mentally, and emotionally, which will lead you to have to deal with their shortcomings with their logic and emotions on a daily basis. I am not saying this lightly, but many people in management and executive leadership positions are mentally unstable, with some exceptions to this rule. Why do I say this or think this? Because I have experienced this many times throughout my corporate working experience and when working with government clients. I did well - very well in my corporate employment, and provided great results to my commercial and government clients as a mid-level senior technical manager. The difference between me and my peers and leadership is that my mood and behavior were consistently better than theirs, and I was able to provide better results and motivate a team better than they could due to my health being in a better state.
